jurY SELECTS WINNERS AND FINALISTS IN THE POSTER CONTEST

 

Washington, DC, November 10, 2009 – The jury selected today the finalists and Winters of the poster contest organized hmong children and young adults of the region, in the context of the celebrations of the 50th anniversary of the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights (IACHR). Below are the results of the jury’s selection, as well as the people’s choice award, according to the votes of the assistants to the inaugural reception of the poster exhibition that takes place in the General Secretariat Building of the Organization of American States (OAS).

A principal, autonomous body of the Organization of American States (OAS), the IACHR derives its mandate from the OAS Charter and the American Convention on Human Rights. The Inter-American Commission has the mandate to promote respect for human rights in the region and acts as a consultative body to the OAS in this matter. The Commission is composed of seven independent members who act in a personal capacity, without representing a particular country, and who are elected by the OAS General Assembly.
