THE IACHR CONDEMNS THE MURDER OF

PROSECUTOR DANILO ANDERSON IN VENEZUELA

The Inter-American Commission of Human Rights (IACHR) condemns the murder of Prosecutor Danilo Anderson which occurred on the evening of November 18, 2004 in Caracas, Venezuela.

The threats, intimidations and other acts that imperil the life and the physical integrity of those who work within the justice system undermine the essential guarantees for the administration of justice and the existence and respect for the Rule of Law.

The IACHR trusts that the State will adopt all the necessary measures to investigate the facts and to prosecute and punish the perpetrators within the framework of the law and in fulfillment of its international obligations.
